INTRODUCTION

           
            The word literature literally means "things made from letters". Literature is commonly classified as having two major forms—fiction & non-fiction—and two major techniques—poetry and prose. There are different styles of music, such as classical and rock, so too there are also different forms of literature. Each is called genre and has its own distinct characteristics. These pages present a brief explanation and an example of each genre. They help you understand and appreciate the literature when you read these various works and their entity.
